Photographer's Note

This was taken less than a month after Typhoon Ketsana had hit Central Cambodia after devastating the Philippines and Vietnam, claiming many lives. In Cambodia, it was the Kampong Thom province which incurred the worst damage and more than 66,000 families were forced from their homes by floodwaters.

At the time of our visit, the traces of the disaster were still very much visible everywhere; however, the locals, like this man we passed by, still had to try and go back to their normal lives (of daily struggle), despite increased hardship on the roads...

Filipinler ve Vietnam'i yikip gectikten sonra Kambocya'yi da etkisi altina alan Ketsana Tayfunu'ndan sadece birkac hafta sonra cekilmis bir kare... Kambocya'da en cok hasara ugrayan bölge, sel tehdidiyle, 66 binden fazla ailenin evlerini terketmek zorunda kaldigi Kampong Thom bölgesi olmus.

Bizim ziyaretimiz sirasinda, felaketin cevredeki izleri hala cok canliydi, ancak yerel halk zaten türlü güclüklerle dolu ve simdi bu felaketle daha da zorlasan günlük yasamlarina dönebilmek icin büyük bir mücadele icindeydi...
