Photographer's Note

The Rangamati lake, surrounded by lush green mountains, is one of the most beautiful (but little known) places of the Indian subcontinent. The whole Rangamati town is entwined by this lake.

The lake was created in the 60s or 70s by building a huge dam at Kaptai, which caused the re-settlement of a huge number of indigenous poeple of many ethnic groups. These people lost their homes, belongings and were uncompensated by the Bangladesh government. Even today they are threatened by Bangali people who are gradually taking away all their land.

Took the photograph at mid-day from a fast moving engine boat with a 70-300 lense (at around 200 mm)hence couldn't get a better depth of field.
