Tirano railway - Saint Moritz
The Bernina Red Train line overcomes a difference in height of 1800 meters, with a 61 km route, almost entirely in the open air, fitting harmoniously into the fabulous Alpine landscapes crossed. Built to be a tourist railway to be exploited during the summer, during its construction it was tried to avoid the areas and gullies more prone to avalanches in the winter season, thus safeguarding the railway from possible damage to cables and tracks. The works were completed in 1910.
