Photographer’s Note

No exif datas,it`s a scanned image.
This are the sand dunes of Merzouga, some of them are more than 100 meters high.
Merzouga is about 40km away from Rissani and in 2000 there was no puplic transport.
I`ve heard that there is a paved road to the dunes now.
In the Merzouga oasis are living about 1200 people and close to the dunes there are many hotels, guesthouses and caffes. Many of the hotels were built like kashbas, the traditional architecture.
I did sleep on the roof of one of them for very little money. After sunset it was getting very cold and I needed 3 woolen blankets, but the reward was a wonderful verry clear night-sky with millions of stars. It was getting even better after 10 pm because then there was no more disturbing electric light.
( Electricity is done by generators in Merzouga).
Such a perfect sky I`ve only seen in the Chilean andes again.
