Photographer's Note

Two reasons for this post: Firstly to show that it is possible to take an endearing photo with a zoom without undermining the dignity of the subject/s, especially in a society where for a male stranger it is taboo to take photos of females.

Secondly I post this photo with the chosen title at a time when there seems to be an alarming display of hate against women in general and high profile women in the mass-media in particular, usually manifested on Twitter where cowards hide in anonymity. There have been many instances in Australia where outspoken and successful women have been reviled on social networking. One does not expect foul and hateful words to be addressed to one's own mother, sister or wife so why is it acceptable to verbally abuse a champion tennis player because she does not come up to one's sexist stereotype of feminine beauty or kidnap a young woman in broad daylight as she leaves public transport and proceed to repeatedly assault her in the car in which she is held captive! (Melbourne news today.)
