Photographer's Note
My reportage from Abu Simbel would be incomplete without the second, a bit smaller temple dedicated to queen Nefertari, the wife of Pharaoh Ramesses II.
BTW: My previous post was a test who reads my notes. I bet everyone who has read it tries to find a guy with red curly hair in this photo.
Abu Simbel temples are two massive rock temples at Abu Simbel, a village in Nubia, southern Egypt, near the border with Sudan. They are situated on the western bank of Lake Nasser, about 230km southwest of Aswan (about 300km by road). The complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The twin temples were originally carved out of the mountainside in the 13th century BC, during the 19th dynasty reign of the Pharaoh Ramesses II. They serve as a lasting monument to the king and his queen Nefertari, and commemorate his victory at the Battle of Kadesh. Their huge external rock relief figures have become iconic.
The small temple at Abu Simbel was dedicated to Nefertari and Hathor of Ibshek. The dedication text on one of the buttresses states:
‘’ A temple of great and Mighty monuments, for the Great Royal Wife Nefertari Meryetmut, for whose sake the (very) sun does shine, given life and beloved;’’
While on other buttresses it says:
‘’ King of South and North Egypt, Usermaatre Setepenre; - he has made a Temple by excavation in the mountain, of eternal work(manship) in Nubia, which the King of South and North Egypt, Usermaatre Setepenre has made for the Great Royal Wife Nefertari Meryetmut, in Nubia, like Re forever and ever.’’
The two colossal standing statues of Nefertari in front of the small temple are equal in size to those of Ramesses II. Nefertari is shown holding a sistrum. She wears a long sheet dress and she is depicted with a long wig, Hathoric cow horns, the solar disk, and tall feathers mounted on a modius.
In the interior of the temple, Nefertari appears in a variety of scenes. She is shown for instance offering to a cow (Hathor) in a papyrus thicket, offering before Khnum, Satis, and Anuket, the triad of Elephantine, and offering to Mut and Hathor.

Hello Mariusz,
Another amazing photo of this famous place. The people are very well included in the foreground without blocking the view of the giant statues. They not only add scale, but also some very bright tones with their clothes, which stand out from the warm colours of the rocks.

Hello Mariusz.
Also superb the Temple of the Queen, one of the wonders of antiquity.
Thanks for your comments to the photos of the island of La Palma. I celebrate that they can help you for your next trip to it.
May-June is a perfect time, the hotel is a wonder to enjoy the stay in it with its fabulous pools and gardens, the sunsets from the same great. Wonderful buffets
The hotel is right on the southern tip of the island, where the weather is best, although the landscape is drier, the north of the island is greener, but everything has its charm.
If you have any questions or doubts do not hesitate to ask me, better to the email, which I think you have, the photos that I uploaded from the island is a selection because I did many more.
Wonderful light, color and quality to see these sculptures well, much tourist as usual in Egypt, but now with the danger has descended.
My most affectionate greetings.
Luis.

Hi Mariusz
A pity about the crowd but it would be hard to avoid, especially with all the security. Another splendid temple photo.

Hello Mariusz,
The man with curly red hair eludes me, anyway I think we should leave him to recover from his embarrassment ;-) But, the giant statues cannot be overlooked. Another fine capture from Abu Simbel. Benefiting from a sympathetic ambient light with well rendered colours and detailing.

Cześc Mariusz
There are twice as many people here as there were when I was there in 2016, but I am happy we both made it in & out without incident. Just recently there was a tour bus with an Egyptian driver and several Vietnamese tourists killed on their way to the Giza Pyramids outside Cairo :-( But you cannot let terrorists scare you into never leaving your home, otherwise they have won. Chances of being caught in an attack are very remote, and more so if you follow the news and avoid known trouble spots. Tfs!

Scaled by the visitors, the magnificent ancient statues made a great impression from the distant point, Mariusz.
Excellent sharp details evident, well shown in a mini series.
Have a nice new week,

Bonjour, cher Mariusz,
C'est là, avec les touristes, que l'on mesure l'importance de l'édifice. L'on peut dire que les Égyptiens voyaient les choses en grand !
Superbe, comme toujours;
Amitiés.

Hello Mariusz,
Again, a fine capture of the temple which absolutely needed the figures to confirm the scale of the statues. They also enliven the scene.
Although when you are on a trip, you have no control over timings, on this occasion, the light seems to have been good for you, shining obliquely towards the temple and helping to create a fine 3D effect.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
