Photographer's Note

This minaret is the only part remaining of one of the ayubid 11th-12th centuries mosques of al Kasr (also know as El Qasr). The mosque itself was destroyed and the present mosque, the mausoleum of sheikh Nasr el Din, was built in the 19th century.
The minaret is constructed of mud bricks made from pottery clay, which is much stronger. It stands 21 meters high and has three floors. The wooden finial of the minaret roof has been destroyed.
