Photographer's Note

This is the temple of Isis (no relation to Islamic State) who was the equivalent of Venus in Roman Mythology & Aphrodite in classical Greece. After the Aswan Low Dam was completed in 1902 these ruins periodically became flooded for 8 months of the year. Then in the 1960's with the Aswan High Dam scheduled for completion in 1970, it was decided to dismantle all the temple structures and move (& reconstruct) them to higher ground on Agilkia Island in Lake Nasser on the Nile.
