Great tyro 2013-09-28 4:04

Hi Craig,

Wow! What an interesting note! Funny, but it just brings to mind my trip to Greenland over 40 years ago - during eight weeks we didn't wash properly at all - just the odd splash of water from a mountain stream. And what was interesting was that although you smelled revolting after two or three days, by the time a couple of weeks had passed you smelled a bit like an old dog - that sort of strange "musty" smell and not really all that offensive at all! :o)

How interesting that you had to slog all the way up here on foot for five days but you do the last half hour in pure luxury in a 'bus. Is there any easier way in which an old man in his seventh decade could get up here or is that not an option?

You have presented us with three wonderful pictures and I see that one of your workshop photos also includes that lone tree which we saw in your last posting. The surrounding mist (or cloud) in all three gives a wonderful sense of depth and the enormous height of this settlement and your viewpoints also give us insight into the amazing architecture which these people constructed all those years ago.

The light, colours, exposure and sharpness in all pictures are stunning.

Fabulous!

Kind Regards,

John.

P.S. But what a crazy place to build all those houses - it must have been a hell of a trek to get to the shops. :o)

Hey John

thanks as always for your positive comments, and negative or critical ones are welcome too haha...
just not too often! haha

when I was here walking around the site, its impossible to NOT think about what you commented on...how did the locals move around? what did they do for food? how did they deal with the climate? what about bathrooms? what about the cold? SO many questions, and they ALL go through your mind as you do the walk-about.
Its an awe inspiring place for sure

thanks again
craig
