Great robiuk 2008-08-23 16:50

Ha! Baščaršija! (glad you put an effort into writing it
correctly!)
Anyway, hope you had a good time in Bosnia and nice to
see you back. Have you had any 'ćevaps' on Baščaršija?
The best ones in the world are being sold there! (not
to mention other delicacies)
Lookimg forward to seeing what attracted your attention
and what places you've visited. Anyway, how come you chose
Bosnia for your holidays?
Robi

Hi Robi,
We went to Slovenia and Croatia as well, but Bosnia was certainly the most interesting part of our trip. I'll have to go back there one day and see more of the place...
Now I'm back I'm thinking of all the photographs I didn't take - missed opportunities. But then again it was a holiday, not a photography expedition (as my girlfriend kept reminding me!).

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Ben,
well, I'm a bit surprised as not many young people decide in favour of
Balkans when it comes to holidays these days...
So, I suppose you flew to Ljubljana and then... what places have you visited while in SLO/CRO/BIH and what made you go there in the first place?
Cheers,
Robi

I've passed through Serbia and Macedonia a couple of times, on the way to Greece, and always wanted to see more of the region.
Time was short, so after a night in Ljubljana we caught the train down to Sarajevo. Couple of days there, then a couple in Mostar. The rest of the time we stayed on the island of Korcula in Croatia, a lovely place, then the long journey back to Ljubljana by ferry and night train.
Two weeks wasn't enough time though, I'll have to go back one day...

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Ben,
From Ljubljana to Sarajevo by train? That's great! I love trains!
And I'll tell you what - Korcula is my favourite island! Where did you stay in Korcula? I usually stay in Prizba, which is on the southern side, just below Blato (which is inland).
But the whole island is great anyway...
I really hope you brought back lovely memories from Korčula!
;-D
Cheers,
Robi

We stayed with a lovely old lady called Dora, right on the waterfront in Korčula Town. She brought us fresh figs from the garden for breakfast - delicious!
We went to Lumbarda and Vela Luka (to catch the ferry to Split) as well, but I don't think we scratched the surface really - it's a big island. I think next time I'd hire a car or bike and do some exploring.
It looks a great place to do some walking in the hills as well, when the weather isn't so hot.

Cheers,
Ben

Hi Ben,

Dora bringing fresh figs for breakfast... wonderful Croatian hospitality... sounds like you had some good time there!

I know Korcula but am not quite familiar with Lumbarda (even I know exactly where it is - I always try to avoid places with tourists around and hotels...)

There are many other wonderful islands around... if you ever decide to return to the area, if you want I can give you a few tips about where to go, why, etc.

Many thanks for sharing all that info with me and have a pleasant evening,

Robi
