Photo disappeared?

  • Hi, I apologize for not reading about this in the FAQ, but I was unable to find said FAQ. My girlfriend uploaded a photo a few days ago and it disappeared as of this morning, even after it had been commented on positively. We double-checked the dimensions and file size and all were within the guidelines...it still shows up in the right hand pane when viewing another of her photos, but not in her profile under "view all photos".

    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hi
What sort of picture it was ?
  • Re: Photo disappeared?
It was a macro of 2 dahlia flowers...there are probably 12-15 others on the site that are similar in terms of composition so I don't think the subject is what caused it to get erased... ???

As the purpose of TrekEarth is to learn about the world through photography, shots of common objects (like closeups of garden plants, water droplets, toothbrushes etc.) tend not teach us anything without a suitable note, so unless there's a suitable note they will be deleted at the discretion of site moderators. If you wish to post these types of image please consider using our sister site TrekLens.

    Ohhhhhhhhhhh... Thanks for the explanation!

    Jeff,

Just because there are other similar images already on the site doesn't automatically mean they fit the rules of the site. Sometimes the mods will spot images that are outside the rules, other times they are deleted because somebody reports them.
Either way there should have been an e-mail explaining what was being done and why. Unfortunately the increase in spam means that often that kind of e-mail is trapped wrongly by anti-spam software and doesn't get through. Don't let setbacks like that put you off, just read the various sections within 'About' before posting. If in doubt post on TrekLens instead.
