Default What I wouldn't give...

If there were a way to actually capture a starry sky on a clear October night, I don't know it. I don't know how. But, oh, if I could! What a sight that is. And there must surely be places closer to the sky than here that would just make you cry. I wish I could, though. I'll bet there are people on here who can.

Hi, Nikki,
oh my gosh. I can only imagine. That's one of scores of places I'd like to visit. Even my own western states here in the U.S.
Have a great weekend.
S.

Hi Shelly
certainly there are many..., many places that we can achieve a wonderful sky at night, but for me, I can never forget the sundown and mainly the the stars and the sensation of that I could touch then simply point my hands to the sky in a deep night in the Atacama's desert near San Pedro in the north of Chile....
I'll bet you cry... I did...

if you want to touch the stars, go to Namibia! Have a look at my picture called "The proof in 40000 sec" to get an idea! and it's really not expensive to stay there at the guestfarm, let me know if you need more info...
Cheers.

Having spent 5 nights camping in the desert of South Australia I have to agree with that. Never before have I felt so insignificant as I viewed the Milky Way cross from horizon to horizon, to then eventually meet the sunrise.

Another good spot is Monument Valley. Take one of the guided hikes where you can camp out overnight. A truly spectacular experience.

Hi Shelly.
My brother is a serious amateur astonomer and he has published many of his images. He has been to Australia several times because we can see so much more of the Milky Way from the southern hemisphere. In order to capture the light the camera needs to be mounted on a tripod with a gizmo (can't remember what it's called) that corrects for the earth's movement so that we can take the longer exposures needed for this type of photography.
Cheers
Phil

Default Re: What I wouldn't give..., just for you from Sinatra

Fly me to the moon
Let me sing among those stars
Let me see what spring is like
On jupiter and mars

In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby kiss me

Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore

In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
