Given how low the active membership numbers are now, I don't see IB being willing to invest money in the site. Personal opinion.

I would never expect any new investments, but couldn't someone out there just push a button, or whatever is needed, to restart the counter? It has been done before when the same thing happened.

I don't really care about the counter, but I think that not repairing it, illustrates well how little the owners of the site care about it.
Every time I upload a photo since several YEARS I get an error message and my photo note is not copied over and neither is the location. I have to open my uploaded photo again, edit, paste the note again select the location again... and than it works. Same error message for years.
I mean, we were always joking about the site declining but I suppose it is a reality now.
I think it is quite sad, since the collection of photos across the world and across various times is quite valuable, not valuable financially of course... it is more like an old library, useless and not needed today...
I am quite sad to see how everything today is reduced to money, to quick commercial benefits, short term effect, advertisement, number of clicks.
Sadly I am not rich but I wonder whether there are some people using the site who would like to consider starting a foundation to purchase the site back from IB with the aim to preserve this brilliant and unique idea and valuable collection for the future.

I wonder how much would it cost to buy, and later to maintain a site like this?

Another idea:
I pay for membership in Just Dance so that my daughter has access to Just Dance songs on her Play Station.
I would be happy to pay for TE membership annually, under the condition that somebody would maintain this website properly.
I know there are plenty of similar websites which are free but I think there may be enough crazy people here who would support it...
You can see it as an exclusive club of members. Some features can be free for all, other available for small fee, other yet for those who reached certain level...
How about that?

Actually, I'll ask about the feasibility of this. I think it's not a bad idea.

Thank you.
You could make a survey with the members. You have their email addresses so you can send them a link to survey where they could vote or express their opinion about what they would be ready to accept. I think this could potentially wake up some inactive members.

I agree. The site has been abandoned for years, full of errors, and administrators don't even listen to our demands.

Default Membership fee, etc.

Hello Mariusz and everyone,

Personally, I think a fee would detract from adding new members and might cause others to leave. I know there aren't a lot of new members lately anyway, but I think TE would shrink even further if a fee structure were to be introduced.

to IBJoel,

I have never really understood what the problem is with properly maintaining this site, and I don't think it's money. Doesn't IB already have a technical staff? Isn't there at least one person already employed who knows how to fix bugs and do maintenance? If so, why do so many features remain broken indefinitely? It seems unbelievable that a company that owns web sites would not have technical staff on hand. I know TE is very small, and the bugs don't need to be fixed immediately, but they also shouldn't be completely ignored. Why acquire a web site if you don't intend to maintain it? I know you are just the messenger and you are doing your best, but it doesn't make sense.

Have a good day my TE friends!
Brenda

I do listen, but I unfortunately cannot make tech work faster.
