Great batalay 2009-12-04 21:13

Hi Dan,

This image brings wonderful memories, a site I haven't seen for four decades! I can make out the streaks of the taillights on Market Street. I'm surprised that the combination of f/11 aperture, an exposure time of eight seconds, and presumably the camera sitting on a tripod has not given you better resolution, but perhaps the ISO setting was very high.

Warm regards,

Default To batalay: ISO 200

Hi,Bulent -

If you can see the taillights on Market Street - 2 miles away - then the resolution can't be that bad. I was using ISO 200. I couldn't use AF, of course, so I set the lens manually to infinity. The lens could be off, I suppose; I've had trouble with it before. I did check the original RAW file just now at 100%, and it does pretty crisp but not totally, so it may just be a function of the telephoto optics. (I had sharpened the RAW image, as always, so that should not be the issue.)

I may have to have Nikon check the lens out.

PS: I hear VA is getting lousy weather this weekend; stay warm and dry!
