Great tyro 2020-06-04 12:43

Hello Jorge,

Just to prove that I read notes: yes, I can see cupid! He is in workshop #2 about 1/3 along the bottom from the left and with his bow in his left hand. I think he is the only one in the painting (apart from Phryne) who is naked!

I love photographs of people examining artworks in museums and galleries and this is an excellent example. And I love your two workshop images showing details of this magnificent painting too. All photos are of excellent quality although, as Gert has pointed out, your main photograph does have a slight lean to the right.

But isn't it strange that painters in the 19th century imagined that people in Greece more than 2,000 years ago dressed like this?

A wonderful presentation for TE.

Kind Regards,

nice at least one people noticed the cupid. haha.
I was thinking the artist should have used some real elements to create the clothes of ancient greeks, maybe he talked with some archaeologist or someone who had studied the mater, but probably there are many mistakes in the scene, but I guess he created the feeling of being there...
take care
