Default Underexposure

Oh, thanks for pointing that out, must be my laptop settings. I guess that means it applies to everything I've processed this trip :-(

Well Biswaroop, just checked the histogram, which looks about bang on to me, with most of the image being slightly on the right of the 18% mid tone range. But it's a good point, since the only invariable when viewing digital images is the histogram, we should really be far more aware it of, especially when away from ones main computer. There's a sharp peak to the left, about a stop and half under, which I put down to contrast on the subjects, since it's taken at slight angle to high sun.

Ah - yes the histogram is a fantastic resource - one of the many dealbreakers against film. I did notice the highlights were mainly on the boats.. which does draw attention to them.

The worst thing is.. when I uploaded the image into lightroom, I couldn't really improve it - seemed just perfect. I did veer off into some subspace of settings... and ended up creating this.

If you ask me, I prefer your version - it looks more natural without the incredibly dramatic levels of clarity and/or contrast Oh well, worth the fun...
