Great alvaraalto 2020-05-16 2:29

Hello Bev,
I was surprised by the half timbered construction in the front wall.
I don't remember ever seeing or reading anything that this kind of construction was used by the Romans. I can remember the other parts from my study book of the past with the history of Architecture.
Excellent presentation
Have a good weekend.
Be careful and stay safe, Rob

Default To alvaraalto: Rome Wasn't Built in a Day

Thanks for your thoughtful critique, Rob.
I love it when people ponder about what they see and read.

I don't imagine that this type of building was necessarily built in Rome, it was built by following the design of a Roman builder of the time and following the plan of an excavated villa at Wroxeter.

'Rome Wasn't Built in a Day' was the name of the TV programme.
I believe it took 6 builders over 6 months to create this villa.

Keep safe,
