Default To Wandering_Dan: Thank you for your comment...

When looking at the picture on the PC when I came home I also wondered what it would have looked like choosing a smaller F-stop... Unfortunately it didn't cross my mind at the time to take two versions of it... I hope I will remember to do so next time. Regarding the colours; it was quite cloudy that day (we unfortunately didn't get much of the famous blue skyes of Mongolia...), but anyway is there a trick you know of that allows you to get more intense colours even with bad weather?

Best regards

Well, we had mostly blue skies, with some clouds, and I also remember some very heavy downpours (fortunately early enough that they passed before we had to get out of our tents!).

Warming filters can brighten a scene on a cloudy day. Nowadays, though, I don't use filters (except occasionally a polorizer). Instead, I do it in post-processing (PP). Photoshop has several filters (these are "Photo Filters" on the Accessories menu, NOT the Filters menu); also, Levels, Curves, Shadow/Highlights and other tools can be used to add a little color back into a scene. Play around with it until you get a result you like. Use a light touch; too much makes it looks like it's been faked.

Hope this helps,
