Default Nikon or Canon?

Good morning dear TE friend!
In my last trip to the CHAPADA DIAMANTINA (some pictures already posted), I dropped my camera and it didn't work anymore! I took to an authorised fixing store and fortunately only the lenses were slightly affected! They fixed, but... I'm not sure... it doesn't seem to be working exactly the way it was before! I might take it to fixing it again but I'm afraid it gets worse in the future! Well, for other long-term travelings I think I might buy another camera... therefore, I'm asking you dear folks, any preference between NIKONS or CANONS?
I would really appreciate all your answers and infomation about it!
My warmest regards,
Neyvan

Canon, Ney!

But I must admit both brands produce such good machines. Once you have chose it, there is no coming back, remember that. :)

Hello Daniel!
Before having an analogical Nikon, I had two Pentax models and in my opinion, they were better! So, you think, even the digital ones, pentax is better?

hahaha- nah I was only joking- I'm a Canon fan ;-)
From my little experience with Nikon's I just find them not as user friendly, and Pentax I have never tried.

All the best,
- Dan

Hi Ney,

Nothing wrong with Pentax in my opinion. The K20D is a very good camera and the newer K-7 seem even better. I am a Pentax and Nikon user and I like them both but Pentax is what I use mostly.

Hi Neyvan!

Another Pentaxian here. I suppose if I were not a Pentax user I'd go for Olympus, because these were the makes I used back in the distant past when the Pentax Spotmatic and the Olympus OM10 were the pioneers of good, small and inventive SLR cameras for the masses. Today, I try to keep away from the big brands that everyone else has. Actually, Pentax gives you a lot for your money. I haven't tried the latest K-7 but it has an incredible array of features for the money.

Anyway, there is no such thing as a bad DSLR camera these days, and in the hands of a reasonable photographer they will all provide great pictures. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but none so extreme that they will turn you into a genius or wreck all your shots!

Someone said once you commit yourself there's no going back, and that's true - you'll start to buy lenses, flashguns etc and switching again in the future will entail buying a whole new outfit.

Hi Neyvan,
If you had enough money ($37.000) buy a Hasselblad H3DII-50 with 50 Megapixels :-)

As I had not win the jackpot, I like my Canon
Best wishes,
Achim
