Norwegian counties
From 1 January 2020, Norwegian counties were reduced from 18 to 11. From 1 January 2018, Nord-Trøndelag and Sør-Trøndelag were merged into one county. New counties in Norway are divided as follows:
Viken (formerly Østfold, Akershus and Buskerud).
Innlandet (formerly Hedmark and Oppland).
Vestfold and Telemark (formerly Vestfold and Telemark).
Agder (formerly Aust-Agder and Vest-Agder).
Vestland (formerly Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane).
Trøndelag (formerly Nord-Trøndelag and Sør-Trøndelag).
Troms og Finnmark (formerly Troms and Finnmark).
Møre og Romsdal.

This should perhaps be updated on the division of regions and counties in Norway here at Trekearth?

Hej Erling,

I am sorry to say that the TE maps have collapsed. No new provinces, and probably no new countries, are marked on our individual maps. It seems unthinkable that this will be fixed. TE is dying, step by step.

Hi Gert,
is it true? I haven't visited a new country or even a county for a while so I cannot check it myself. But this would really made me quite sad. The maps are the main reason I am present on TE.
Kind regards,

Hi Mariusz,
I haven't added any new country for a while, but I have added several new Turkish provinces and they are not seen on my map. That is, they are registered, but only "light up" when I hold the cursor on the name. Malgo recently posted a photo from Israel, just for a test, and she didn't get a map at all.
Someone else also mentioned this new problem in another thread.

Thanks for the update Gert.
It sounds really bad. I realize that they don't want to spend too much time on it but I would think writing a site like this even from scratch should be not difficult nowadays for people who know how to do it.
As I mentioned in the other discussion this is quite a sad news.
I think TE is quite a unique collection contributed over time from people around the world.
It is sad that everything is translated into profit nowadays but even in that case they should consider to restructure it and innovate instead of simply waiting for their website(s) to die.

Hi Joel,
you wrote in another thread that visitor counter cannot be repaired. What is the situation with the maps?
Are maps also impossible to repair or there is a hope it will be fixed?
For example check holmertz map of Turkey where new added regions are not highlighted anymore.
Kind regards,

Not only regional maps, the world map is not being updated either. There is a Brazilian user, walterantonio, who seems to have recently been to Poland and Germany, and his map has not been painted correctly. And the links to his German or Polish maps don't work.

There are in fact only 11 counties in Norway:

"In 2017 the government decided to abolish some of the counties and to merge them with other counties to form larger ones, reducing the number of counties from 19 to 11, to be implemented from 2020."

This was seemingly done automatically, somehow. I'd imagine as a result of whatever database we use to pull that information.

mkamionka 02-13-2020 08:22 PM

What was done automatically?

I still see 19 (+Spitzbergen):

Oh I did not understand the original post. I thought they said that the list on Trek Earth shrank from 18/19 to 11. I'll ask tech, but I don't know that it can be done.
