    Hi Jean
this is a great post for TE, I have truly learned something new and interesting today. I had no idea what this thing is called, and what its purpose is...and seeing it even closer in the WS really brings it home. I bet you're the only person ever on TE to present this to us :) Well done! cheers

    Hi John
too bad you couldn't fit in ALL the bikes along the very bottom of the frame...but i'm just being picky :) The sky is fantastic here and is such a strong secondary subject. lovely angled compo to create so much depth, and even with the exterior buildings being in the shade its still very attractive. nice shot

    Hi Serge
the white fence could use a fresh coat of paint to make it even more white...but that's ok :) First off, I like the tall vertical presentation, i like the large amounts of greens mixed in with a little bit of red, and the electric blue sky helps alot as well. cheers

    Hi Luciano
yes, an unexpected find! Even if it were taken from a moving bus, but honestly we can't tell. The shallow water is very calm, acting almost like glass. great to have the flamingos spread out everywhere including deep in the frame too. great shot, I would never have expected this scene from Tunisia!

I really enjoy this romantic type of view, it really does have a sense of wonder to it, its made for couples haha. It would be a lovely walk or drive. and the little amounts of autumn color help to bring it out even more so. lovely shot

    Hi Gert
its fun to compare these shots to the most recent ones, and perhaps the site has been 'cleaned up' to some degree or perhaps your shots just have a more rugged feel to them I'm not sure. This is a great perspective. Its an obvious observation, but the carved out exteriors really do mimic the cliffs, camoflauged so well. Its fun trying to visualize how this place looked in its prime. I'll try a google search for the same, I'm sure there's some drawings or something of how this used to look. great shots once again. cheers

A very serious looking cliff, looks like a good view point for this image with a very clear and contrasty figs to give a sense of scale. I would call this one : freedom. Well done shot.

    Hi Denis
Such a peaceful location you've got here, how different people see things differently, benefits from a compositional object as a focal point. How the flashy bed of flowers leads in so effectively to the graceful old church. Delightful capture, Congrats

Great timing for the lady on the bike! I like the composition too with several vertical elements against the canvas of the blue sky and the patterns of the pavement filling the foreground.
When I visited Basel I stayed in Switzerland, did shopping in France and went cycling to Germany. Fascinating place indeed. :-)

Indeed, the transformation from what must have been a small city to what we can see in this photo over forty years sounds like a miracle, part of China's mind-blowing growth. It's difficult to comment on the quality looking on it on a small laptop screen. But I know that I like the composition and the raised viewpoint as well as the panoramic format which gives an impression of a vast area filled with tall buildings and illustrates your note perfectly.

    Hi Gert
I loved this series, it can't be the last post, you haven't posted a photo of the Treasury yet!
Seriously though, I really like the composition here with the mysterious tombs in the distance and the lines of columns in the foreground. The blue sky contrasts with the dun of the landscape and the man with a camel adds life (is it a donkey in the background?). You would be hard-pushed to photograph this place with just one man with a camel these days. Both this and the WS image of the Monastery look pretty match how those places look like today except the street in the main photo is lined with souvenir shops (and one restaurant serving really nice juice where they let me buy a whole lemon I needed so much for my tea and couldn't find anywhere else...).
My favourite is the b&w WS though. It's got a real Lawrence of Arabia feel.
    Best wishes
